Speaker to Tell First-Hand Story About Finding Success Despite Being Bullied
A lot of people wouldn’t feel comfortable being stared at.
Lizzie Velasquez welcomes it. Born with a rare syndrome that prevents her from gaining weight, Velasquez has spoken out on the negativity, teasing and bullying she had to deal with on a daily basis throughout her life.
In her talk, “Why I Want You to Stare,” being given Monday, Oct. 3 beginning at 6 p.m. in the Warren Ballrooms, Angell College Center, she’ll discuss the obstacles she’s dealt with and how she’s made it through them to accomplish her dreams.
The talk is sponsored by the college student group, Multicultural Alliance, which was inspired after seeing Velasquez speak on CNN’s “Dr. Drew Show” last semester.
This event is free and open to the public.
