Soundplane, Synthesizer and Electric Guitar Concert Slated for Nov. 19
Dr. Bill Pfaff, associate professor in the SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music, will present a solo performance of original works Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall.
Pfaff will perform compositions for soundplane, synthesizer and electric guitar. Many of the works incorporate synthesized sound and live performance. The performance also features the premier of two multimedia works that bring together Pfaff’s compositions and his photographic approach to the natural world.
“I began composing and performing on the soundplane in 2014,” Pfaff said. “The instrument, which has the sensitivity and feel of an acoustic instrument but connects to and works with digital synthesizers, represents the convergence of my musical language with a fully articulated electronic sound world. The soundplane allows me to perform synthesizers with an infinitely nuanced musicality. It enables me to integrate multiple layers of synthesized sound — which I create from scratch — with traditional instruments.”
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Pfaff at 518-564-2469 or [email protected].
