'Soulful Christmas 2016' Comes to Giltz Auditorium Dec. 4
The Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir brings traditional and urban gospel, contemporary Christian music and more to its annual holiday concert, “A Soulful Christmas 2016” Sunday, Dec. 4 from 4 to 6:15 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.
The 70-voice chorus and the internally renowned Daisy Jopling and the Daisy Jopling Band will perform Christmas favorites such as “Oh Come Oh Come Emmanuel,” “A Christmas Wish,” and “Oh Holy Night, along with Ricky Dillard’s hit, “Joy to the World,” Kirk Franklin’s “Now Behold the Lamb,” and Yolanda Adams’ rendition of “I’ve got the Victory,” among others. The Praise Team, Praise Dance Team and Step Team will also perform.
Hosted by Reuben Jackson of Vermont Public Radio’s Friday Night Jazz, Soulful Christmas will also include a 3:30 p.m. pre-show performance by Marilyn Reynolds and the SUNY Plattsburgh Sinfonia Ensemble.
Under the artistic leadership of Dr. Dexter Criss, SUNY Plattsburgh professor of chemistry, the choir has traveled internationally to Japan, Toronto, Montreal and St. Martin/Maarteen.
Tickets are $15 advance, $18 day of show for general admission and $5 advance and $8 day of show for students. Children under five sharing a parent’s seat are free.
