Shannon Stewart Receives ECAC Rookie of the Week Honors
Shannon Stewart of the women’s hockey team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Women’s West Division Rookie of the Week for week ending Jan. 8.
The award marks the first honor of the season for the Pickering, Ontario, native.
She recorded three points on Friday during a 5-2 Cardinal win over Potsdam. The freshman
assisted on the game-tying goal in the first period before scoring a power-play goal
in the third. Stewart finished with a second assist on Plattsburgh's final goal. Stewart
has now recorded four goals and six assists on the season for 10 points.
The 8th ranked Cardinals will host ECAC West rival R.I.T., who are no. 1 in the USCHO.com
Division III poll. The two game set is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday
at 3 p.m.
