Senior Exhibition 2007 Opens with Artist Lectures, Reception April 21
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Student studio artists and an art historian student at the State
University of New York College at Plattsburgh will show off their hard work in the
Senior Exhibition 2007. The exhibition opens on Saturday, April 21, with artist lectures
at 3 p.m. in the Hartman Theatre and an opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in the
Burke Gallery and room 232 of the Myers Fine Arts Building.
On display through May 12, the exhibition features more than 250 works by 22 studio artists and one art historian. The exhibition includes various mediums such as sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, photography and graphic design. This diverse collection is an exciting representation of the artistic accomplishments produced by SUNY Plattsburgh Art Department students studying for their Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
The exhibiting seniors created their show under the direction of the Museum staff - Edward Brohel, David Driver, Ceil Esposito, Marge Coughlin and Mary Lou Beauharnois. A great deal of preparation is required in creating an exhibition. Students have learned the complexities of managing a show and how to present work successfully through this museum exhibition process.
The Senior Exhibition of 2007 celebrates the culmination of each student's college career in the SUNY Plattsburgh art program. Each work reflects the individual artist's strong commitment to his/her work, making for a successful exhibition. The class welcomes the public to view their accomplishments. The artist lectures, reception and entrance to the exhibition are free and open to the public.
