Satim, Grace Recognized by SUNYAC for Weekly Honors

FREDONIA, N.Y. (Nov. 23, 2009) -- The State University of New York Athletic Conference on Monday has named Plattsburgh State men's hockey student-athletes Eric Satim and Mike Grace the conference's player and rookie of the week, respectively. The period ended Sunday. This marks Satim's first such award since Jan. 26, 2009, and Grace is the first Cardinal freshman to earn the rookie award since Kyle Kudroch last March 2.

Satim, a junior forward from Montreal, Quebec, led the Plattsburgh offense with six points on three goals and three assists, helping the No. 3-ranked Cardinals to a SUNYAC road sweep of Buffalo State (7-0 on Friday) and Fredonia (10-2 on Saturday). He capped the weekend with a four-point effort against the third-place Blue Devils, scoring two first-period goals within a 1-minute, 48-second span to erase a 1-0 Fredonia lead.

A defenseman from Rochester, Grace topped all Plattsburgh blueliners with four points, all on assists, to help the nationally ranked Cardinals to a SUNYAC road sweep by a combined 17-2 score. The defense recorded its first shutout of the season against the Bengals and allowed just two goals on the weekend. He ranks tied for 4th in SUNYAC defensemen scoring with six points.

In other Plattsburgh men's hockey news, the Cardinals (6-1 overall and SUNYAC) maintain their No. 3 ranking in the NCAA Division III poll compiled by USCHO.com and released today. They received 254 points behind top-ranked Saint Norbert (297) and No. 2 Oswego (270).
