Sampling of Public Events Through Early March

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Jan. 26, 2010) - The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh is pleased to present this updated calendar of public events through early March. It contains a sampling of arts, workshops, talks and other events at the college, all of which are open to the public and many of which are free of charge.

Wednesday, Feb. 3

Monday, Feb. 8

Dr. Joseph Burke, "William H. Miner: The Man and the Myth." Noon. Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center. Presentation of  Burke's new biography about one of the largest philanthropists in the history of the North Country.

Wednesday, Feb. 10

Visual Artist Series: Conservator Emily Gardner Phillips. 7:30 p.m. Room 106, Hudson Hall. Free and open to the public.

"The Boogie Woogie Rumble of a Dream Deferred" by Francene Jennings. 7 p.m. Warren Ballrooms, Angell College Center. Presentation based on the Langston Hughes poem "A Dream Deferred."

Friday, Feb. 12

Reception for Dr. Nancy Elwess. 3 p.m. Cardinal Lounge, Angell College Center. Reception will honor Elwess who recently received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring from President Obama.

"Daughters of Afghanistan." 6:30 p.m. Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall. Documentary film screening with introduction and discussion by Kay Branagan, lecturer in Africana studies and gender and women's studies.
