Quartet to Premiere Two Works during March 25 Concert
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The world premiere of two works by the Frontier Saxophone Quartet
will be performed on Sunday, March 25, at 3 p.m. in the Hyman and Frances Krinovitz
Recital Hall in Hawkins Hall.
Daniel Gordon, associate professor of music at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, will perform on baritone saxophone as part of the Frontier Saxophone Quartet, a chamber ensemble that he founded in 2003. Other members of the quartet include Gary Scavone from McGill University, Todd Pray from Peru Central School and Claudia Schaetzle, a freelance musician from Montreal.
The program will feature original works by Gordon Jacob and Heiner Wiberny. For the second half of the program, the quartet will be joined by pianist Karen Becker, assistant professor of music, to perform works by Dominic Dousa and Janne Iknonen. These works were composed for the Frontier Quartet and will receive their premiere performances at the concert.
