Price, Carpenter Earn SUNYAC Top Marks
FREDONIA, N.Y. (April 5, 2010) -- The State University of New York Athletic Conference on Monday announced that the SUNY Plattsburgh men's lacrosse student-athletes Ryan Price and Logan Carpenter have been named the player and goalie of the week, respectively. The period ended Sunday.
Price, a senior midfielder and face-off specialist from Lindenhurst High School, is
a first-time recipient of the SUNYAC weekly award. During a 2-0 week by Plattsburgh,
he averaged 15 ground balls, scored three goals and won 35 of 50 face-offs for an
outstanding .700 percentage to help the Cardinals go 8-1 to start a season for the
first time. Several of his face-off wins led to Cardinal goals. He also broke his
own school record for single-season ground balls (114) when he scooped up 16 versus
SUNY Maritime, a 24-11 win on Saturday.
A junior from Fort Edward (South Glens Falls HS), Carpenter wins the award for the
second time in his career (March 22). He compiled a 9.51 goals-against average with
16 saves and eight ground balls in 88 minutes and 37 seconds of action to help the
Cardinals defeat perennial regional power Clarkson (Wednesday) on the road, 13-12
in overtime, and the Privateers by 13 goals at home. In the one-goal win over the
Golden Knights, he made a stabbing save with 2 seconds left in regulation to force
overtime and made another stop in the extra session to give the team a chance to win.
