Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir Presents its Fall Concert
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The Gospel Choir will present its fall concert at the State University
of New York College at Plattsburgh on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the E. Glenn
Giltz Auditorium in Hawkins Hall.
Under the direction of Dr. Dexter Criss, associate professor of chemistry, the Gospel Choir will energize the audience with the prelude performed by the Plattsburgh Praise Party (PPP) Praise Team. The show will progress with a mixture of songs from the whole choir and dances performed by the PPP Step Team and the PPP Praise Dancers. The choir will perform music by Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin, Olanda Draper and Bryon Cage.
Advance tickets $2 for SUNY Plattsburgh students and $6 for the general public. Tickets are available at the Angell College Center Information Desk, Adirondack Soup Company and Imagine That Toys and Resource Center. Tickets can also be purchased on the evening of the show and are $4 for SUNY Plattsburgh students and $8 for the general public. Children under the age of seven will receive free admission.
The Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir, a Student Association organization, is in its 13th year and currently has 65 members. Its members are dedicated to exalting the human spirit through lively and wholesome gospel music and performances.
During the last two years, the choir has performed before Governor George Pataki and General Consulate for Canada Bernadette Allen. Last winter, the choir performed four concerts for more than 2,500 people in Tokyo, Japan.
In addition to the choir's international travels, the choir has also performed at the Flynn Theater in Burlington and at local churches and community events. The choir sings traditional gospel, contemporary gospel and spirituals.
