Plattsburgh State Fraternities and Sororities to Host "Up 'Til Dawn"

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ Fraternities and sororities at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh will host "Up 'Til Dawn" on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Warren Ballrooms, Angell College Center as part of their sixth annual "A Week to GIVE (Greeks Interacting and Volunteering Everyday)" celebrations.

"Up 'Til Dawn" is a student-led, student-run program hosted by colleges and universities nationwide to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Many local children and doctors benefit from the research and treatment programs at St. Jude. The event at SUNY Plattsburgh is being coordinated by the Greek organizations.

"Up 'Til Dawn" is a letter-writing campaign that occurs on a night of fun-filled activities, music, food and entertainment. Teams are formed and will address at least 50 letters to friends and family asking them to make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Throughout the night, contests will be held for participants, giving them a chance to receive prizes including CD players, ski passes, a TV, a DVD player and gift certificates from Old Navy, Gap, Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, J.C. Penny, Blockbuster, Friendly's, Applebee's, Price Chopper, CVS Pharmacy and Dick's Sporting Goods.

SUNY Plattsburgh athletic teams, fraternities and sororities, multicultural organizations, residence hall councils, student association clubs and organizations and other student groups have signed up to participate.

The overall winning team will be announced once St. Jude has received the donations through the letter-writing campaign. A four-foot trophy will be awarded to the team during the annual Project H.E.L.P. Awards Ceremony in the spring.
