Pianist Louise Dionne to Present Faculty Recital

The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music will present Louise Dionne in a faculty recital of solo piano music Sunday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. in Krinovitz Recital Hall, Hawkins Hall.

Works will include Franz Liszt’s “Piano Sonata and Concert Etude No. 3” and Ernesto Lecuona’s “La Comparsa” and “Malagueña.” Dionne will also play her own composition, “Floating on Lake Champlain,” from her 2011 CD.

Dionne has performed extensively around the region for many years and has performed in venues across the United States and Canada. She has been a member of the music faculty at SUNY Plattsburgh for more than 10 years and has maintained her private studio on Margaret Street for 24 years. (See dionnepianostudio.com.)

Dionne received her Master of Music degree from Ithaca College in 1988 and her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music and two minors in French and Spanish from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1985.

She shares a home with her Cuban-born husband, Ernesto Rodriguez, and their son, Camilo, a budding three-year old musician.

Recorded at The Hit Factory at Criteria Studio in Miami, Fla., Dionne’s CD, which includes works by Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin, will be available for sale after the concert.
