Pendragon Brings Chekhov's 'The Seagull' to E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium Oct. 2
The SUNY Department of Theater presents an updated take on Anton Chekhov’s darkly comic play, “The Seagull,” performed by Pendragon Theatre, Friday, Oct. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.
The play, considered the first of Chekhov’s four major works, is brought into the 21st century by British playwright Anya Reiss. In it, a successful actress visits her brother’s isolated estate far from the city, throwing the frustrated residents unfulfilled ambitions into sharp relief. As her son attempts to impress with a self-penned play, putting much more than his pride at stake, others dream of fame, love and the ability to change their past.
General admission tickets are $11. Faculty, staff, seniors and non-SUNY Plattsburgh student tickets are $9, and tickets for SUNY Plattsburgh students with ID are $3. Tickets are available at the Angell College Center desk. For more information, contact Dwayne Butchino, 518-564-2243.
