Norchi Sets School Record with Third ECAC Upstate Weekly Award
CENTERVILLE, Mass. (April 28, 2010) - SUNY Plattsburgh redshirt junior attackman Kyle Norchi is the Eastern College Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Upstate Player of the Week, which is the third time (March 19-April 2, 2007) he has won the ECAC award for a school record. Norchi received similar honors from the State University of New York Athletic Conference on Monday.
The Hauppauge High School product led the Cardinals to a 1-1 week with 10 goals and
11 points. Norchi scored a game-high eight goals -- one shy of the school record --
against Williams (17-15) on April 20 as the Cardinals defeated a NESCAC school for
the first time. Norchi also had a career-high nine points in the contest, when he
became the program's single-season points record holder.
Norchi is among the nation's leading scorers with 75 points on 48 goals and a career-best
27 assists.
In addition to Norchi, midfielder Ryan Price and goalie Logan Carpenter (April 6)
and attackman Luke Weidlein (March 23) are other Cardinals to earn ECAC Upstate weekly
honors this season.
ECAC Upstate includes three conferences -- SUNYAC, Empire 8 and Liberty League --
and Independent programs from the region outside New York City.
