Musical Concert at SUNY Plattsburgh on April 2
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The Music Department at the State University of New York College
at Plattsburgh, in conjunction with Champlain Valley Oratorio Society, presents Carl
Orff's "Carmina Burana."
The performance will take place on Saturday, April 2 in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall, at 8 p.m. The concert will feature the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society and the SUNY Plattsburgh Choral Union.
Admission is $15 general admission, $12 for seniors and students and $4 for SUNY Plattsburgh Students.
Tickets are available for SUNY Plattsburgh students at the Angel College Center Information Desk until 5 p.m. on April 1. All other tickets are available through participating Champlain Valley Oratorio Society members, Peacock Music, Imagine that Toys, North Country Cultural Center for the Arts or at the door the night of the performance.
A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Strand Theater Restoration Project.

Carmina Burana translates into "Songs from Benediktbeuern" or more often, but less
accurately, as "Songs of Beuren." These songs celebrate spring, tavern-life and love.
Orff's inspiration for the piece was drawn from a manuscript collection containing
200 medieval poems and songs. Carmina Burana received its first performance in June
1937 at the Frankfurt Opera in Germany.
