Music and Theatre Department Upcoming Events

PLATTSBURGH, NY __ It's a busy time of year for students in the Music and Theatre departments at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh State. The following are three events scheduled for later this month. For more information on any of these events, call 518-564-2180.

The Music Department presents the Symphonic Band, which will give its final concert of the academic year on Friday, April 16 at 8 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall. The program is titled, "A Performance Experimentation with Music for Open Instrumentation."

The program contains works that were all written without any specification by the composer as to which instruments should be used to play them. These works include Steve Reich's Clapping Music , Frederic Rzewski's Les Moutons de Panurge and Jon Sutton's Games among others. Because of the unconventional nature of the music, conductor Daniel Gordon, assistant professor of music, will provide introductory remarks about each piece. The concert is free and open to the public.
--------------------------------------------------------

The College Theatre Association will present Student Night of One Acts featuring four student-written and directed plays on Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. in the Hartman Theatre, Myers Fine Arts Building.

The plays include Fast Times at Wanker Burger , Waiters Gone Wild , Room 403 and Star Wreck . Admission is $2 at the door only. Please note that, due to the nature of some subject matter, it is not recommended for young children to attend.
----------------------------------------------------------

The Theatre Department at Plattsburgh State presents a senior project, Ashley Santor - Live at the Riverside Club: An Evening of Jazz and Lush Living , on Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. in the City Hall Rotunda, downtown Plattsburgh. Admission is $3 at the door.

Plattsburgh State theatre students will transform the Rotunda into a jazz club and graduating senior Santor will sing and perform for the last time as a Plattsburgh State student.
