Music and Theater Departments present Lyric Scenes Workshop Performance
PLATTSBURGH, NY (January 16, 2007) - The SUNY Plattsburgh winter session course, Lyric Scenes Workshop, is staging its own reality show, of sorts. Two performances of "Once More ... With Talent," will take place on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, Room 129 Myers Fine Arts Building, located on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Lyric Scenes Workshop, co-directed by music faculty members Dr. Karen Becker and voice teacher Timothy Morningstar, provides a unique opportunity for music and theater students to study the methods of the singing actor.
"The workshop culminates in a public performance," says Becker. "This allows the students to explore all aspects of their personalities in a musical way, and in this case, in the form of a zany reality show."
Songs from popular Broadway musicals will be performed in this semi-staged, cabaret-style production.
The production is sponsored by the SUNY Plattsburgh Music and Theatre Departments with support from the Student Association through the Campus Arts Council. For more information call 518-564-2180.
