Men's Soccer Trio Receives All-ECAC Upstate Honors

CAPE COD, Mass. (Dec. 3, 2009) -- For the first time in the program's history, the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team has three players named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Upstate Team. Juniors Bart Misiak, Chris Taylor were selected for the first unit and John LoGuirato made the second team. This all-star squad is comprised of three New York-based conferences including the State University of New York Athletic Conference, Empire 8 and Liberty League.

The Cardinals finished the season with a 13-3-6 record, SUNYAC regular-season title (7-1-1), NCAA Tournament Second Round appearance and No. 19 national ranking during the regular season.

Similar to his SUNYAC Player of the Year Award last month, back Misiak received top billing as the best defensive player by the ECAC. A product of St. Martin's Secondary in Mississauga, Ontario, he anchored a SUNYAC unit that allowed the fewest shots on goal, ranked first with 10 shutouts, ranked first in scoring defense (0.75 goals per game) and gave up only 18 goals in 20 contests. He is a three-time all-SUNYAC selection, including first team honors the last two seasons.

Cardinal captain Taylor, of Liverpool, England (Cardinal Heenan), repeated on the all-SUNYAC first team and was recognized for the third time in his career in November. He led the conference and tied for third in the NCAA with 15 assists -- two shy of the school single-season record. The midfielder also had four goals and was Plattsburgh's leading scorer with a career-high 23 points.

LoGuirato, a back, didn't miss a beat returning to the field for the first time since 2007 when he was all-region by two organizations and made first-team all-SUNYAC. The Holbrook product out of Ronkonkoma Sachem North High scored two goals and six points this season en route to his third straight all-conference certificate.
