Men's Soccer Honored With Team Ethics Award

The 2011 Plattsburgh State men’s soccer team has earned the Team Ethics Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Eight men’s squads across the nation received either the Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the Team Ethics Award. The award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

Coach Chris Waterbury’s Cardinal squad was the only men’s SUNYAC team to be honored on any version of the award and one of five men’s teams to earn the Bronze Award, which is presented to teams that receive no red cards and a maximum of 10 yellows throughout the season.

The Cardinals finished out the 2011 season with a 13-5-2 record, bowing out in the SUNYAC semi-final to eventual conference champion and NCAA Final Four participant Oneonta State.
