Men's Lacrosse Featured in NCAA Division III Monthly Newsletter

SUNY Plattsburgh's men's lacrosse team is highlighted in the latest edition of the NCAA Division III Newsletter, a tool to enhance communication between the NCAA national office and the Division III membership. The Cardinals were cited by the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as a successful institutional SAAC. The SAAC Spotlight features institutions or conferences demonstrating “best practices” and enhancing quality initiatives.

The excerpt under the Division III Committee Update section on page 7 reads:

"Campus: In conjunction with the Plattsburgh State University College of New York’s men’s lacrosse student-athletes and men’s assistant lacrosse coach Ryan Cavanagh, the Plattsburgh State SAAC helped to coordinate, promote, and support the 2nd annual Cardinals Clip Cancer event held on Oct. 14 at Plattsburgh State's Warren Ballrooms. Cardinals Clip Cancer is a volunteer-driven headshaving event to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundations efforts to fight childhood cancer. St. Baldrick's funds are granted to some of the most brilliant childhood cancer research experts in the world to find cures and improve the quality of life for patients and survivors. The Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. More than 72 individuals participated in the event by shaving their heads as a sign of solidarity for those with childhood cancer. The event raised $7,500 overall for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation."
