Men's Basketball Rises Two Spots in National Rankings
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Dec. 15, 2010) --The Plattsburgh State men's basketball team climbed two spots to No. 20 in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25--despite being idle since Dec. 4.
Plattsburgh received 84 points to outdistance No. 21 Ramapo (77), No. 22 WPI (73), No. 23 Emory (72), No. 24 Chapman (62) and No. 25 John Carroll (55). The Cardinals, who have not played since a 69-60 victory against Oneonta 11 days ago, moved ahead of then-No. 17 JCU (which dropped eight positions) and then-No. 19 Carthage (which fell out of the Top 25) in the national rankings.
Team members are taking fall semester final exams this week and will return to practice after the holidays in preparation for No. 5 Middlebury on Jan. 4 and Elms the following day.
The Cardinals head into the New Year with a 6-1 record, including a 2-0 ledger in the State University of New York Athletic Conference for a first-place tie with Oswego. Plattsburgh is the only SUNYAC institution earning points in the national poll.
