McClellan Named Director of Lifelong Learning

PLATTSBURGH, NY __Kathy McClellan has been named director of lifelong learning at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh effective July 1.

Kathy McClellan McClellan had served as interim director for the Center of Lifelong Learning since the retirement of Dr. Janet Worthington in June 2003. Her new appointment came after a search for the position this spring.

"Kathy has shown a strong ability to work with her colleagues on campus," said Dr. Robert Golden, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "I'm delighted that she is going to be with us as the director of the Center for Lifelong Learning."

McClellan came to Plattsburgh three years ago when she was hired as NCATE coordinator in educational studies and services. Two months later, McClellan was asked to be interim director of the Office of Field Placement when then director James McCartney left to pursue another opportunity.

"While I was serving as interim director of field experiences and student teaching, the position of interim director of lifelong learning opened up, which was an area I was interested in," said McClellan.

McClellan said she is excited about the future of lifelong learning at Plattsburgh State.

"The Center for Lifelong learning has been in a huge transition during the past year, and I've been a part of that process. I look forward to the new role of lifelong learning, which will focus on continuing education and the community," said McClellan.
