McCasland, Ewers Tabbed USTFCCCA All-Academic Honorees
Amy McCasland and Mahalia Ewers of the Plattsburgh State women’s track and field team have been named to the 2011 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Women’s Track and Field All-Academic Team.
A total of 328 student-athletes representing 102 institutions compose this year’s group.
McCasland and Ewers were members of the 1,600-meter relay team that placed 14th overall this past spring, with a time of 3:54.90 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past spring. Both women were also named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference All-Academic team and Commissioner’s List in the spring.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event. Participation in an NCAA Championship also fulfills the athletic component of the All-Academic qualification.
