LoGuirato Receives Last SUNYAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week Award
FREDONIA, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2010) -- SUNY Plattsburgh senior back John LoGuirato (Holbrook/Ronkonkoma Sachem North High School) was tabbed the State University of New York Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
On Saturday, LoGuirato was named the SUNYAC tournament MVP after leading fourth-seeded Plattsburgh to its first SUNYAC championship since 2005 and 12th conference title overall. He assisted on Pat Shaughnessy's goal in the 8th minute for a 1-0 lead against Brockport in the championship game. The Cardinals won 5-4 on penalty kicks after the teams played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie.
LoGuirato converted 2-of-3 attempts in penalty-kick shootouts throughout the tournament as Plattsburgh defeated No. 5 Geneseo, upset No. 1 Oneonta and defeated the defending conference champion Golden Eagles en route to the NCAA automatic bid.
