Kid's Day at SUNY Plattsburgh Art Museum
PLATTSBURGH, NY (October 23, 2007) - The SUNY Plattsburgh Art Museum is opening its doors to third, fourth, and fifth graders who want to learn more about art and museums on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
This special "Kid's Day" class will be taught by the museum's professional docents and will help children between the ages of 9 and 11 years understand and explore concepts such as "What is art?" and "What is a museum?"
The children will be introduced to the different art media on display in the Rockwell Kent Gallery, the Slatkin Room, and the Winkel Sculpture Court. Children will be encouraged to discuss and express their own feelings and ideas.
Registration is required as the number of participants is limited. Please call 518-564-2813 between noon and 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 518-563-6717 all other times to reserve a spot. The event is free of charge, and grandparents and parents are welcome to attend.
