Key Winds Trio Performs Winter Concert at SUNY Plattsburgh
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Feb. 14, 2008) - The SUNY Plattsburgh department of music is pleased to present a concert of chamber music by the Key Winds Trio on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. in the Krinovitz Recital Hall at Hawkins Hall on the college campus.
Sunday's concert is appropriately named "A Wintery Mix." It will include a diverse
selection of music featuring pieces by Mendelssohn, Zagwijn and Khachaturian.
SUNY faculty members Janine Scherline (clarinet) and Janice Kyle (oboe) formed the trio in 2006 with pianist David Carpenter, a retired faculty member from Saranac Central School. Their concert repertoire includes works written or arranged for the trio's combination of instruments as well as various solo compositions for oboe and clarinet.
Members of the trio also perform in area ensembles such as the Adirondack Wind Ensemble and the Woodland Winds Woodwind Quintet. Past performances include a benefit concert for the Strand Theatre in Plattsburgh and chamber music concerts in Peru, Saranac Lake and Geneseo, N.Y., as well as Shelburne, Vt.
