Kevin Michael Days Returns as Distinguished Visiting Alumnus


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The Distinguished Visiting Alumni Program at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh presents Kevin Michael Days, a 1989 graduate, who will give a public presentation on Monday, Nov. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the Plattsburgh Room, Angell College Center. The title of his lecture is "Students' Civic Engagement: Youth Voter Turnout for the Election of 2004." All are welcome to attend.

Kevin Michael Days Days was most recently the executive director for the New York Campus Compact in Ithaca, N.Y. As executive director, he was responsible for the overall leadership of the Compact, which is a higher education association devoted to helping colleges and universities achieve their public service mission.

Days recently relocated to Washington, D.C. where his wife, Dr. Margaret Weitekamp, has started her role as the curator for the National Air and Space Museum, Division of Space History, Social and Cultural Collection at the Smithsonian Institution.

Weitekamp will be visiting campus with Days and will also give a public presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 12:15 p.m. in the Plattsburgh Room. The title of her lecture is "Space for Everyone: Women, Popular Culture and the 'New Aerospace History.'" All are welcome to attend.

The Distinguished Visiting Alumni Program, sponsored by the Plattsburgh Alumni Association, brings alumni back to campus to discuss their careers with students, faculty members and others. They share new ideas and become more involved in the academic mission of the College.
