Junior Duo Tabbed to Coaches' All-Region First Team

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Dec. 11, 2009) -- Plattsburgh State juniors Bart Misiak and Chris Taylor have been named first-team All-East Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the organization announced on Friday. The Cardinals were one of a three programs with multiple winners on the first unit.

A back from Mississauga, Ontario (St. Martin's Secondary), Misiak anchored a defensive unit in the State University of New York Athletic Conference that allowed the fewest shots on goal, ranked first with 10 shutouts, first in scoring defense (0.75 goals per game) and gave up only 18 goals in 20 contests. He repeats on the all-region first team from his sophomore year and third time overall. He previously won SUNYAC player of the year and ECAC Upstate defensive player of the year accolades.

Taylor, the team captain from Liverpool, England (Cardinal Heenan), makes all-region for the first time in his career. The midfielder had his best season with team highs of 15 assists and 23 points. Taylor just missed tying the school's single season assists record by two, ranked first in the SUNYAC and was tied for sixth in NCAA Division III for that category.

Both players are eligible for NSCAA All-America consideration, as that team will be released later this month.
