Josee Larochelle Named Vice President for Administration

Josee Larochelle, a veteran leader in public higher education finances and operations, has been named vice president for administration at SUNY Plattsburgh. She will begin her new position July 1.

Larochelle will replace the retiring John R. Homburger, who has served the campus since 1975.

Currently serving as associate vice president of finance at San Jose State University, she brings 16 years of executive-level finance experience in higher education to the role, within both the University of California and California State University systems.

"Strong skills in working with boards, executives, staff, students, governments and communities set her apart in a very good pool of candidates," said SUNY Plattsburgh President John Ettling.

"Her experience in developing capital outlay plans, thinking strategically about funding possibilities, growing sustainable financial practices and building a range of relationships — from public-private partnerships and student association leaders to faculty members and local leaders — will serve us well."

Larochelle earned a M.B.A. at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; and a B.A. at UCLA. Prior to work in public higher education, she served in finance and administration functions with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Los Angeles.

"SUNY Plattsburgh has a strong tradition, and I am excited to be joining such a vibrant institution," Larochelle said. "My primary goal for Business Affairs is to be a strong partner and essential resource in helping the college reach its aspirations and strategic goals while maintaining its educational excellence and service to students."
