Jensen, Cadieux Earn SUNYAC Men's Hockey Weekly Honors
Alex Jensen and Mathieu Cadieux have been named State University of New York Athletic Conference rookie and goalie of the week, respectively, for the week ending Jan. 1.
Alex Jensen was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist in Plattsburgh’s 5-0 shutout of Babson in the first round of the Cardinal Classic. Jensen led the team with eight shots on goal in the championship game against then-ranked No. 3 Castleton. The freshman forward was named to the Cardinal Classic All-Tournament Team following his weekend performance.
Mathieu Cadieux earned his second conference weekly honor of the season after giving the Cardinals back-to-back solid outings to help Plattsburgh claim the Cardinal Classic Title. The sophomore goaltender out of Oshawa, Ontario stopped all 20 shots he faced through the first two periods in a combined shutout against Babson. In the championship game against Castleton, Cadieux turned away 20 of 21 shots to help Plattsburgh top the Spartans, 2-1.
Plattsburgh, ranked No. 3 in the latest USCHO.com Division III poll, will host Castleton again this Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Skidmore makes the trip to the Stafford Ice Arena for a 7 p.m. start.
