Jazz Festival to Feature Mambo Combo, SUNY Plattsburgh Ensemble
The SUNY Plattsburgh Department of Music will celebrate its 40th annual Jazz Festival with a concert featuring the college’s Jazz Ensemble, Mambo Combo and special guest, Thugtet, Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.
The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Adjunct Lecturer Herm Matlock, will play big band jazz and feature various student soloists. Matlock also directs the Mambo Combo — the group created by and originally directed by the late Dr. Rick Davies. Davies’ music will be the feature event of the evening, being performed by his professional group, Thugtet.
Tickets are $3 SUNY Plattsburgh students; $6 SUNY Plattsburgh faculty, staff, non-SUNY students and seniors; and $9 general admission, and are available at the Angell College Center desk, and at the door. For more information, contact Dwayne Butchino, 518-564-2243.
