Gospel Choir to Present Soulful Celebration
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Dec. 4,2009) -- The Gospel Choir at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh will present A Soulful Christmas Celebration 2009 at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium of Hawkins Hall on campus.
The 70-voice choir will perform works by Percy Gray, Hezekiah Walker, Brenda Moore, Joe Pace, Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin and others. With a mix of urban, traditional, classical and spirituals, this concert should appeal to audience members holding a wide variety of tastes.
Under the direction of Dr. Dexter Criss, SUNY Plattsburgh's Gospel Choir will sing Quincy Jones' arrangement of "Hallelujah." The choir will also perform soulful Christmas selections, meant to be uplifting, such as "Joy to the World" and "Three Kings."
The choir's Step Team, Praise Dancers and Praise Team will also perform at the concert. These student-directed groups will add energy to the overall celebration. CDs of the choir's spring 2008 concert will be available at the concert.
In addition, Minor Adjustments, SUNY Plattsburgh's student-directed a cappella group, will sing a selection of popular Christmas carols.
