Gibson Brothers Concert, April 5
SUNY Plattsburgh graduates Eric and Leigh Gibson will return to their alma mater on Saturday, April 5 to perform live in concert.
The Gibson Brothers will take the stage in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium on the Plattsburgh State campus for a 7 p.m. performance. The concert is presented by the Plattsburgh Alumni Association and will benefit student scholarships at SUNY Plattsburgh through the Plattsburgh College Foundation.
"We are excited to have the Gibson Brothers return to campus," said Rose Anderson, Director of Alumni Affairs at SUNY Plattsburgh. "Despite their international success as musicians, they have always remained close to their alma mater. Also, their multiple accomplishments since graduation have earned them our Distinguished Alumni Award in 2005; they are the youngest of our graduates ever to receive the award. We are indeed very proud of the Gibson brothers!"
Eric Gibson is a 1993 graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh and Leigh Gibson is a member of the Class of 1994.
Since being named "Emerging Artists of the Year" at the 1998 International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, the Gibson Brothers have carved out a unique sound while breaking new ground with albums "Red Letter Day" and "Bona Fide." Sing Out! magazine has said about the Gibson Brothers, "Like the Louvins before them, no one around today does close harmony quite like Eric and Leigh Gibson."
Their latest album, "Iron & Diamonds," their fourth on the Sugar Hill Record label, is scheduled for release on April 8 but will be available for purchase at the concert. The concert serves as a "CD Release Party" for the new album, and the Gibson Brothers will sign copies and meet with the audience during intermission.
Tickets for the concert are $10 for students and $18 for general admission. On the day of the concert and at the door, tickets will sell for $20. Tickets can be purchased at the following locations:
