Senior Back Bart Misiak Named ECAC Upstate Defensive Player of the Week
CENTERVILLE, Mass. (Sept. 21, 2010) – SUNY Plattsburgh men's soccer player Bart Misiak was named Tuesday as the Division III Upstate/Metro Defensive Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference, becoming the first Cardinal to be honored this season.
A senior back out of Mississauga, Ontario, Misiak and his fellow Cardinal defenders yielded only 17 shots while going 2-0 last week, defeating Castleton State (Sept. 15) and Skidmore (Sept. 18) by identical 1-0 scores. He scored his first goal since his 2007 freshman year against the Spartans, a game-winner in the second overtime.
To date, Plattsburgh (6-0-1 overall) has allowed only one goal in seven games, leading the nation with six shutouts and tying for fourth in NCAA Division III shutout percentage (0.86) and fourth in goals-against average (0.14).
ECAC Upstate includes three conferences – SUNYAC, Empire 8 and Liberty League – and independent programs, as well as metro schools in the New York City area and New Jersey.
