Dixon to be Inducted Into Cardinal Sports Hall of Fame Jan. 30


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The head women's basketball, soccer and softball coach at Clinton Community College will be inducted into the Cardinal Sports Hall of Fame at Plattsburgh State University of New York on Friday, Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. in the Sports Hall of Fame exhibit area located in Memorial Hall.

Dixon, who basketball in a Cardinal uniform at Plattsburgh State from 1985 to 1989, scored 1,417 points in her Cardinal career and was a powerhouse on the court.

As a member of the women's basketball team, Dixon won several conference awards. She was named to the SUNYAC first team all four years she played.  At the end of the 1987-88 season, Dixon was named SUNYAC Player of the Year. She had a total of 389 rebounds and holds the single-season scoring record of 422 points. Dixon also played one year for the Cardinal Soccer Team.

Dixon received her bachelor's degree from Plattsburgh State in 1998 and is currently working on her master's in administration and leadership at Plattsburgh State. Prior to her coaching positions, Dixon was an admissions advisor at the community college as well as an instructor teaching courses on racquetball, physical fitness and golf.

The induction and reception immediately following the ceremony are open to the public.
