Department of Music Celebrates ChoralFest 2011
SUNY Plattsburgh’s Department of Music will present its annual ChoralFest Concert,
directed by Jo Ellen Miano Wednesday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. in E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium,
Hawkins Hall.
The program will feature the SUNY Plattsburgh College Chorale and the Cardinal Singers
performing Mozart’s “Regina Coeli” for chorus, soloists and chamber orchestra.
The College Chorale will present selections of mixed choral styles including both
a cappella and accompanied pieces by composers Viadana, Berger and Gershwin.
The Cardinal Singers with chamber orchestra will perform J. S. Bach’s “Cantata No.
150, Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich.” Also included in their program will be two,
close harmony a cappella songs, Gershwin’s “Bidin’ My Time” for men’s voices and the
contemporary song “May I Suggest” for women’s voices.
In addition to the concert, other ChoralFest 2011 events will include high school
choral clinics and the annual workshop, “Getting Ready for Your NYSSMA Solo.”
Concert tickets are available in advance at the Angell College Center desk and will
be sold at the door. Prices are $8 general admission; $5 seniors, students and SUNY
Plattsburgh faculty and staff; and $2 SUNY Plattsburgh students.
