Craig, Leis Receive SUNYAC Weekly Honors
Ryan Craig and Josh Leis of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team each earned State University of New York Athletic Conference weekly honors for the week ending Jan. 23.
Craig was named SUNYAC Player of the Week after a six point week as the Cardinals defeated two nationally-ranked opponents in Williams and Geneseo. Last Monday, Craig tallied a goal and an assist in Plattsburgh’s 5-1 win over Williams. In Friday’s 4-2 win over Geneseo, he also added a goal and an assist. Craig finished his week by adding two assists against Brockport on Saturday.
Leis earns SUNYAC Goalie of the Week accolades for the third time in the last four weeks. The sophomore goaltender from Kitchener, Ontario allowed one goal and recorded 24 saves against No. 6 Williams last Monday. On Friday night, Leis stopped 19 shots in a 4-2 win over No. 7 Geneseo. The next night against Brockport, he turned away 26 of 28 shots in another 4-2 victory. Leis posted a 1.67 goals against average for the week, improving his record to 12-1-1.
