Craig, Jensen Receive SUNYAC Men's Hockey Weekly Awards
FREDONIA, N.Y. (Feb. 28, 2011) – Ryan Craig and Nick Jensen of the men’s hockey team were named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Feb. 27.
Craig earns Co-Player of the Week after netting four goals in two SUNYAC tournament
games for Plattsburgh. The junior forward from Easton, Md., recorded a hat trick in
Plattsburgh’s 4-3 quarterfinal win against Morrisville, including the game-tying goal
in the third period to force overtime. In the SUNYAC semifinal game against Geneseo,
Craig buried the game-winner with just over two minutes left in overtime to send the
Cardinals to the SUNYAC Championship game.
Jensen grabs Rookie of the Week honors with four assists in the two Plattsburgh wins. He assisted on the Cardinals’ first three goals against Morrisville, including the game-tying goal at the 13:08 mark of the third period. The freshman out of Helsingborg, Sweden also assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime against Geneseo to give the Cardinals a 3-2 win in their semifinal matchup.
The Cardinals (19-7-1) will host Fredonia (14-12-1) for the SUNYAC Championship at the Stafford Ice Arena this Saturday at 7 p.m.
