Conference on Exploring Treatment and Prevention Options For Obesity June 17


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The treatment and prevention options for obesity will be the focus of a conference at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh on Thursday, June 17.

"Hazardous Waist" is a conference designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, health educators, counselors, mental health professionals and other health professionals.

The full day conference begins with an introduction on obesity by Jerie Reid, nutrition services coordinator for the Clinton County Health Department. Other topics to be discussed throughout the day include nutrition concerns of fad diets, physical activity, pediatric obesity, metabolic syndrome, bariatric surgery and restoring the balance.

Presenters include: Dr. Keith-Thomas Ayoob from the Rose F. Kennedy Children's Evaluation and Rehab Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, N.Y.; Dr. Richard Weil from the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, N.Y.; Dr. Sharon Alger-Mayer from the Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y.; and Susannah LeVon from CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
