College Offers Paddle-Sports Coaching Opportunity
SUNY Plattsburgh’s Department of Expeditionary Studies is providing an opportunity for students and aspiring paddle-sports instructors to gain a professional coaching certificate — one that is recognized around the world.
The British Canoe Union teaching certification course will take place Sept. 2-5. Through it, qualified paddlers will be able to earn a BCU Level I certificate in paddle-sports coaching.
Gaining this certificate is the first step in becoming a paddle guide or instructor through what Expeditionary Studies Chair Laurence Soroka calls the "premier system of paddle-sports qualifications."
The program will also feature an opportunity to work with renowned instructors.
"It will be presented by two of the world’s most highly qualified and experienced paddle-sports coaches, Rob Yeats and SUNY Plattsburgh Expeditionary Studies faculty member Steven Maynard," Soroka said.
For more information, contact Soroka at 518-564-5292, [email protected], or Maynard at 518-564-5295, [email protected].
