College Hosts Graduate, Professional School Fair Sept. 29


PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2009) - Undergraduate students, local professionals and those looking to expand their horizons are invited to attend SUNY Plattsburgh's Graduate and Professional School Fair.The fair will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Flynt Commons, Angell College Center, on the SUNY Plattsburgh Campus.

More than 40 colleges and universities offering a variety of graduate programs, including business, communications, education, law, medicine and social work, will participate in this year's fair. The colleges in attendance will provide students with graduate program information, admissions requirements and application packets. SUNY Plattsburgh's Career Development Center will also be available to offer students information and tips on preparing for and applying to graduate schools.

Director of Graduate School Admissions Marguerite Adelman hopes to attract students in all levels of education.

"The earlier you start thinking about graduate school the better," says Adelman. "Understanding the requirements of graduate school can be very helpful while pursuing your undergraduate degree."

Graduate school is required for some fields, like education, and the Graduate and Professional School Fair will be a great way to learn about college offerings in those programs, said Adelman.

Students will have the opportunity to win prizes including MP3 players, flash drives and SUNY Plattsburgh graduate application fee waivers.

Organizations attending the fair include Alfred University, American University of Antigua's College of Medicine, Champlain College, Clarkson University, the College of St. Rose, Concordia University, D'Youville College, Goddard College, Hofstra University, Marist College, Medaille College, Nazareth College, Niagara University, Peace Corps, Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester Institute of Technology, Roger Williams University, St. Michael's College, St. John Fisher College, the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John's University, SUNY Albany, SUNY Cortland, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse University, Union Graduate College, Union Institute and University, Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara's School of Medicine, University of Buffalo, University of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of New Haven, University of Rochester and Utica College.
