Classical Indian Music Performance Oct. 15


PLATTSBURGH, NY __ An evening of classical Indian music at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh will be presented by the Asian Studies Committee. A performance by K. Sridhar will feature a demonstration and lecture on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. in the E. Glenn Giltz Auditorium, Hawkins Hall.

Sridhar, who began playing classical Indian music at a very early age, started touring worldwide in 1982. He has given hundreds of concerts in such countries as Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Taiwan.

Sridhar has been featured on British, Irish and French television as well as American, Danish and Swedish Radio. He has made 11 recordings and composed numerous soundtracks for films and is currently a recording artist for Peter Gabriel's RealWorld Records. In his latest recording, Arab Path to India , Sridhar explores the profound connection between Arabic and Indian musical roots.

This event is open to the public and a $3 donation, if possible, is requested for admission. The concert is sponsored by College Auxiliary Services, the Global Education Office, the President's Office, the Honors Society Association, Multicultural Programming Committee and the Anthropology Club.
