Citizenship Between Haiti, Dominican Republic Topic of March 8 Program
SUNY Plattsburgh’s Department of Anthropology, Latin American studies, the Honors Center and Sigma Lambda Upsilon sorority will sponsor, “Race: Racism and the Crisis of Citizenship in the Dominican Republic and Haiti,” Wednesday, March 8 at 5 p.m. in the Angell College Center Alumni Conference Room.
Anthropologist Juan Rodriguez, former executive director of El Museo del Hombre Dominicano and vocal human rights advocate, will discuss the current controversy over citizenship rights between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Rodriguez will also be on hand for an informal luncheon and discussion Thursday, March 9 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Mowry Conference Room, Redcay Hall.
