Chris Taylor Chosen for Co-Offensive Player of the Week for ECAC Upstate
CENTERVILLE, Mass. (Sept. 22, 2009) - Following the State University of New York Athletic Conference's announcement on Monday, Sept. 21, the Eastern College Athletic Conference has followed suit and named SUNY Plattsburgh junior forward Chris Taylor as its ECAC Upstate men's soccer co-offensive player of the week, for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 27.
Taylor, of Liverpool, England (Cardinal Heenan High School), figured prominently in two non-conference wins last week, scoring a team-leading eight points to become Plattsburgh's pacesetter for the season. He was credited with a game-winning goal struck from 25 yards out at Castleton State on Wednesday, and assisted on the insurance tally in a 3-1 triumph. He also drilled a 35-yard shot for his second goal of the Skidmore game for the game winner in the 69th minute on Saturday, capping a 3-2 comeback victory in which Plattsburgh trailed 2-0 after 10 minutes.
Taylor now leads the team with six assists and 12 points. As the first SUNYAC player to be recognized by the ECAC this season, he shares the regional weekly award with Brian Bianchetti of Vassar College.
