Champlain Valley Voices, SUNY Plattsburgh Choral Union to Perform 'Messiah'
Handel’s oratorio, “Messiah,” will be performed by SUNY Plattsburgh’s Choral Union and the Champlain Valley Voices Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Strand Center for the Arts, 25 Brinkerhoff St., Plattsburgh.
The holiday masterpiece, performed under the direction of Dr. Karen Becker, music professor at SUNY Plattsburgh, takes scriptural text from the King James Bible and from the version of Psalms included in the “Book of Common Prayer” and will feature soloists Maegan Pollonais, Rory Wallace, both SUNY Plattsburgh alumni, and George Cordes and Kimberly Weems.
Tickets are available at the Cornerstone Bookshop, the General Trading Company or choir members and are $15 advance, $17 day of show for general admission; $10 advance, $12 day of show for seniors; and $8 for non-SUNY Plattsburgh students. Tickets for SUNY Plattsburgh students with ID are $2.
