Celebration Marks Launch of the Saranac River Trail
A kids Fun Run and a talk by internationally known fitness expert Mark Fenton will highlight the official launch ceremony of the Saranac River Trail Monday, May 21, from 5:15 to 6 p.m.
The whole community is invited to the celebration, which takes place on the Saranac River Trail on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus, adjacent to the Memorial Hall playing fields.
Parking is available on Lot 14 off Rugar Street or at the lots across Rugar Street from Memorial Hall.
The 1.3-mile first phase of the trail, from George Angell Drive to the Saranac Street Bridge in the City of Plattsburgh, is a vital new recreational asset free to all members of the community and is just the first portion of a trail that’s planned to extend from the Lake Champlain waterfront into the Town of Saranac.
The Saranac River Trail Committee has supported the idea of enriching the Plattsburgh community with a healthy, safe area for recreational activity since 2006.
