Celebration Event Set for Championship Women's Hockey Team
SUNY Plattsburgh's 2014-2015 national championship women's hockey team will be featured at a special celebration reception set for Thursday, April 2 at 6 p.m. in Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
President John Ettling has invited members of the campus and greater Plattsburgh communities to the event. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door beginning at 5:30 p.m. SUNY Plattsburgh students with a valid ID and children 12 and under will be admitted free. Proceeds, including funds from raffles and auction items, will be put toward the cost of national championship rings for the team.
The women's team earned its second consecutive Division III ice hockey championship on March 21 with a 3-2 victory over Elmira College. The win gave Plattsburgh its fourth championship in program history — more than any other school in women’s D-III hockey.
All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative championship team photo.
The event will feature a formal program celebrating the Cardinals' accomplishments. Following the program, members of the women's hockey team will be available for autographs, photo opportunities and an open skate. Skate rentals will be provided at $2 per person or $1 for faculty, staff and college students with a valid ID.
