Career Development Center Brings on New Director, Career Counselor

“She has a breadth of experience that will assist her in her new role as director,” Vice President for Student Affairs Bryan Hartman said.

“Our Campus Plan has identified increased efforts to support students’ career development and opportunities for experiential education,” he said. Overton-Healy’s time as a faculty member, multiple experiences in career centers and corporate recruiter position “will help her lead the center forward to meet those expectations.

“Julia’s immediate priorities will be to work with our current staff to ensure we are ready to deliver our existing services; to transition a new online career-management system for use by students, faculty and staff; and to begin developing a plan for the future.

Overton-Healy takes the place of Tracy Cross-Baker who accepted another position last winter.

Meanwhile, Tobi Hay will take over as a career counselor and employer-relations specialist. She has a wide range of experience working in the higher education arena, private industry and not-for-profit sector, Hartman said.

“Tobi will connect easily with our students because of her extensive history in working with students in career centers, admissions offices and student advising. I believe Tobi is the right person to help the college and the CDC to enhance our outreach to employers and alumni,” Hartman said. “This outreach is to create additional opportunities for students to get career guidance and/or experiential opportunities.

Hay will take the place of senior career counselor and long-time employee Barbara Barry who retired this summer.
