Cards No. 2 Seed in Upcoming Championship
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (May 4, 2010) -- SUNY Plattsburgh will be the No. 2 seed and play third-seeded College at Brockport in the first game of the 2010 State University of New York Athletic Conference Baseball Championship. The double-elimination tournament gets under way at noon Friday with the Cardinals (30-8 overall, 7-5 SUNYAC) and Golden Eagles (20-16, 7-5 SUNYAC) at Wallace Field on the campus of Cortland. Admission is free, and available multimedia platforms will be announced later.
The host Red Dragons (30-7-1, 11-1 SUNYAC) is the regular season conference champion
and will meet No. 4-seed Oneonta (26-10, 7-5 SUNYAC) in Friday's other first round
game at 3:30 p.m.
The Cardinals, who are making their eighth-consecutive SUNYAC appearance, won a three-team
tiebreaker over Brockport and Oneonta because the Cardinals swept the Golden Eagles
(7-6 in 10 innings and 4-3 in 11) and had a better record at 3-1 in head-to-head meetings
among the three schools.
