Cardinals Sweep SUNYAC Weekly Awards
FREDONIA, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference Monday named Luke Weidlein and Logan Carpenter as the player and goalie of the week, respectively, for the period ending Sunday. It's the first time since March 17 of last year (Weidlein, goalie Matt Billia) that the Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team swept the conference's weekly honors. Weidlein ties current teammate Kyle Norchi for the most SUNYAC player of the week citations in school history at four.
Weidlein, a senior attackman from Seaford High School, recorded 10 goals and 20 points
in four games as Plattsburgh went 3-1, surpassing 200 career points. He becomes the
13th player in SUNYAC history and first Cardinal to reach that milestone. He also
scooped eight ground balls.
Carpenter earns his first career SUNYAC award after compiling 33 saves and .541 save
percentage as the Cardinals defeated Briarcliffe 25-8 (Wednesday), Richard Stockton
22-11 on the road (Thursday) and Utica 15-12 away from home (Saturday) after opening
their spring trip with a 17-4 loss at Saint Mary's of Maryland (last Monday).
Norchi was the season's first recipient to win conference player of the week honors
on March 8.
